Upon your arrival, at the port of entry for 13 days of mountain trekking, you will be met by our company representative who will transfer you to the hotel for overnight stay. Next morning, after breakfast, the adventure will begin with four days of Mt Meru trekking the fouth higest peak in Africa which will be followed by one day of cultural tour in the villages on the slopes of Mt Kilimanjaro. The following morning, after breakfast, the Mt Kilimanjaro trekking adventure will begin. In the next six following days, you will trek and attempt to conquer the mighty 'Uhuru Peak' of Kilimanjaro. The magnificent ice glaciers of Kilimanjaro which are about three degrees south of equator at about 5895m above the sea level are one of the most attractive features of this roof of Africa.


Itinerary 13MK
Day 01: Arriving in Tanzania
Upon arrival in Tanzania, you will be met by the company representatives who will transfer you to the hotel in Arusha or Moshi (depending on Safari or Mountain trekking starting point) for overnight stay.
Day 02: Mt. Meru - Momella gate to Miriakamba hut
On the first day of Mt Meru trekking, after breakfast, you will be transferred to momella gate in Arusha national park for registration. Having completed park registration formalities, the trekking will begin under supervision of a Park ranger. The momella route will take you through open grassland which provides an opportunity to view wild life at close proximity. After lunch, you will continue trekking through dense forest to Miriakamba hut camp (2500 m) above the sea level. At Miriakamba dinner is served and overnight stay.

Day 03: Mt. Meru - Miriakamba hut to Saddle hut
On the second day, after breakfast, trekking continue. Ascending through the dense forest towards elephant ridge where you will have a lunch break. Trekking continues after Lunch break and upon reaching Saddle hut (3500 m) tea, coffee and bites will be served. After refreshments and short rest, you will be advised to conquer little Meru (3820 m) in that evening. Also it is an opportunity to acclimatize your self before the next day summit attempt. Dinner is saved upon returning to the base camp from little Meru and overnight stay.

Day 04: Mt. Meru - Saddle hut to Summit to Miriakamba
On the third day, you will leave the camp around 3 am after earlier breakfast. Trekking will continue all the way to Rhino point (3800 m). Having reached Rhino point, the trekking continues through the alpine desert of Mt. Meru toward the Big Meru Peak. At the peak, breathtaking scenery of Kilimanjaro on the east and the rift valley on west (on good weather conditions) could be seen easily. Having reached and conquered Mt Meru peak, you will begin to descending. Arriving at saddle hut from the Peak, a short break with tea, coffee and bites will be served. After the short break the descending will continue all the way to Miriakamba huts with a Lunch break. At Miriakamba you will have dinner and overnight stay.
Distance: 10km ascent, 20km descent; Time: 6-7 hours ascent, 10-11 hours descent; Vegetation: Alpine desert
Day 05: Mt. Meru - Miriakamba hut to Momella gate
On the fourth day, descending will continue toward Momella gate with a lunch break. At the gate, you will be transferred to the hotel or lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 06: Cultural Tour Day
Cultural day tour, after Mt Meru trekking experience, you will be taken on a cultural tour in villages on the slopes of Mt Kilimanjaro as part of acclimatization process. At the ends of the tour, you will be taken back to you hotel or lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 07: Machame Gate to Machame Camp
On the first day of Kilimanjaro trekking, after breakfast, drive to Machame gate (1800 m) for registration and briefing. After registration formality, the ascending begins by trekking through tropical forest to Machame camp(3100 m) with lunch break at a rest point. Upon arrival at machame camp, dinner will be served and overnight stay.
Distance: 18km; Time: 5-6 hours; Vegetation: Montane forest
Day 08: Machame Camp to Shira Camp
On the second day, after breakfast, ascending continues from Machame camp(3100 m) to Shira camp(3800 m) with lunch break at a rest point. Upon reaching Shira camp, dinner will be served and overnight stay.
Distance: 9km; Time: 4-6 hours; Vegetation: Moorland
Day 09: Shira Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp
On the third day, after breakfast, ascending continues from Shira camp (3800 m) to Barranco camp (3840 m) with lunch break at a resting point. During the ascending, you will ascend up to (4620 m) before descending to Barranco camp (3840 m) as part of acclimatization preparation for summit attempt. Upon reaching the base camp, Barranco, dinner is served and overnight stay.
Distance: 15km; Time: 6-7 hours; Vegetation: Semi desert
Day 10: Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp
On the fourth day, after breakfast, you will continue to ascend Kilimanjaro from Barranco camp (3840 m) to Barafu camp (4900 m) with lunch break at the rest point. Upon arrival at Barafu camp, dinner will be served and overnight stay.
Distance: 13km; Time: 7-8 hours; Vegetation: Alpine desert
Day 11: Barafu Camp to Summit to Mweka Hut
On the fifth day, after breakfast, you will attempt to conquer the summit. At midnight, depart the base camp ascend toward Stella point (5685 m) where you will have a short rest to see the magnificent sun-raise. After the rest, you will continue to ascend for another one hour before reaching the summit Uhuru Peak (5895 m). From the summit, you will descend all the way to Mweka camp(3100 m) with a lunch break at Barafu camp. Upon reaching Mweka camp, dinner will be served and overnight stay.
Distance: 7km ascent, 23km descent; Time: 6-8 hours ascent, 7-8 hours descent; Vegetation: Ice cap
Day 12: Mweka Camp to Moshi
On the sixth and last day, after breakfast, you will continue to descend all the way to Mweka gate. At the Mweka gate, Certificates will be issued before proceeding to Mweka village where a transfer vehicle will be waiting to transfer you Lodge or Hotel.

Day 13: Departure from Tanzania
On the last day of the safari, after breakfast, you would be taken on a town tour and shopping. After lunch, transfer to the airport for departure.
